Meeting to Review the Project "Research on Using Thermal Power Plant Ash to Replace Natural Aggregates for Manufacturing Precast Hollow Concrete Panels Using Extrusion Technology"
Date 24/03/2024 02:41
On the morning of March 22, 2024, the Scientific and Technological Council of the Vietnam Institute for Building Materials (VIBM) held a meeting to evaluate and review the state-level independent project “Research on Using Thermal Power Plant Ash to Replace Natural Aggregates for Manufacturing Precast Hollow Concrete Panels Using Extrusion Technology,” project code DTDL.CN 99/21, led by Associate Professor Dr. Le Trung Thanh. Dr. Nguyen Quang Hiep, President of VIBM, chaired the meeting
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Trung Thanh presenting at the project review meeting.
At the review meeting, on behalf of the research team, project leader Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Trung Thanh presented the results of the research activities according to the registered proposal with the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Trung Thanh outlined the current situation in our country, highlighting the significant stockpile of thermal power plant ash, while the extraction of natural aggregates (sand, gravel, etc.) is increasingly being regulated to protect resources and minimize negative impacts on the environment and ecosystems. Therefore, researching the use of thermal power plant ash as a replacement for natural aggregates in the production of precast hollow concrete panels is crucial. The goal of the project is to master the technology for producing precast hollow concrete panels using extrusion technology with untreated thermal power plant ash as a substitute for natural aggregates, meeting the quality standards of TCVN 11524:2016.
During the meeting, the research team reported on the main findings of the project, including:
An overview of the use of thermal power plant ash to replace natural aggregates and the technology for producing precast hollow concrete panels both globally and in Vietnam.
Research on methods for selecting components and designing concrete mixes using thermal power plant ash as a replacement for natural aggregates.
Investigation and evaluation of the properties of concrete using thermal power plant ash as a substitute for natural aggregates.
Experimental production of precast hollow concrete panels using extrusion technology with thermal power plant ash as a replacement for natural aggregates at the factory and their application in construction by installing wall structures with these panels at construction sites.
Development of documentation on the technology process for producing precast hollow concrete panels using untreated thermal power plant ash to replace at least 60% of natural aggregates, and technical guidelines for the construction and acceptance of precast hollow concrete panels using thermal power plant ash in construction projects.
Dr. Nguyen Quang Hiep - President of VIBM, speaking at the project review meeting.
After the presentation by the project leader, the Scientific and Technological Council of VIBM discussed and provided feedback and comments on the content. They agreed to approve the project and requested the research team to continue refining the report based on the Council’s suggestions, for submission to the Ministry of Science and Technology for final approval according to regulations.
