MoU signing ceremony between Vietnam Institute for Building Materials (VIBM) and Xella Baustoffe GmbH, Germany

With the aim of promoting Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) product market in Vietnam, in the morning of April 5th 2011, VIBM and Xella Baustoffe GmbH solemnly held a MoU signing ceremony on exchanging technologies and revising Vietnam standards of AAC products.

After signing the MoU, VIBM and Xella also spent time on discussion on standardization of AAC products in China, Germany and some other countries, and on revising AAC standards in Vietnam (TCVN 7959).

Attending the signing ceremony were representatives from departments of Construction Ministry: Mr. Pham Van Bac – Deputy Director of Building Materials Department, Ms. Pham Thi Hong My – Deputy Director of International Cooperation, Mr. Tran Dinh Thai – Deputy Director of Science – Technology and Environment, and from Xella: Ms. Almut Roesner – Chief of Xella Representative Office in Hanoi, Mr. Chadwick Chan – Product Manager, Xella International GmbH in China. Also attending were leaders and some  researchers of VIBM.

Among non-burned materials, the modern building market is very interested in AAC block and panel – an environmentally friendly, soundproofed and insulating material. As the leading research institute in the field of building materials, VIBM has taken the lead in researching the production and the use of building materials in Vietnam, thence setting up the program of developing non-burned building materials. At present, VIBM continues to study the production technology of AAC from domestic raw materials, especially from fly ash – a kind of industrial waste. VIBM is also revising the standardization of AAC product. 

Xella is a well-known group in the world with many extensive experiences in the production and standardization of AAC materials. 

After signing the MoU, VIBM and Xella discussed on cooperating program between two sides and exchanged knowledge and experiences on AAC standardization in Vietnam. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Dinh Thai - Deputy Director of Science – Technology and Environment expressed his support to the cooperation between VIBM and Xella, and highly appreciated the quality of Xella AAC products. He also suggested that after the signing ceremony, VIBM and Xella should have further discussions on revising AAC standards in and making them suitable for climate conditions in Vietnam. 



On behalf of VIBM and Xella, Dr. Luong Duc Long profoundly thanked all leaders of Construction Ministry, representatives of Departments, the consultancy and research offices, manufacturers for their supporting and attending the signing ceremony. He hoped that the cooperation program between VIBM and Xella would be continually supported in order to effectively contribute a small part in promoting the development of AAC products in Vietnam. /.
